Story
In "Steam Engine" the Justice Society tries to help the Atom better control his temper, and discovers that the cure may be worse than the disease when they try to break up The Gambler's smuggling operation. In "P.O.V. - A Fable" the Spectre, enraged by humanty's propensity for violence and evil, considers annihilating all life on Earth, and Starman tries to convince him not to. Finally, he shows how hope washes away despair, and the Spectre agrees to hold humanty's end in abeyance, for now. In "Way of the Amazon", Wonder Woman speaks to Phantom Lady and Liberty Belle about what would one day be called feminism. A report of Nazi saboteurs interrupts the discussion and they find the "Red Tornado" battling the villains. Following their escape car, they discover an enormous aircraft build with stolen parts, which they force into a crash. They discover Red Tornado is a woman who works at the plant, and whom Wonder Woman points out as an example of the Amazon way! "The 90-Minute Man" finds Rex Tyler pitted against a radium powered menace whose abilities last a full ninety minutes! Rex has to figure out how to handle him for the thirty minutes after his Miraclo wears off - and he does! When world leaders gather on the White House lawn, they're "Thunderstruck" to see a figure out of myth - the god Thor, sent from far Valhalla to bring them before der Furher! As he absconds with the leaders, Doctor Fate and Green Lantern try to stop him, but fail! Hitler is overjoyed; only the capture of Stalin would improve this! Then the figures explode! Hitler alone survives by ducking behind Thor, who is banished back to his own realm. It seems that Doctor Fate created booby-trapped duplicates for Thor to kidnap while hiding the originals invisibly! Wonder Woman and Hawkman experience a "Waking Nightmare" when a powerful oneiromancer named Kali Gari invades their dreams on behalf of the Nazis. Fortunately Sandman's dreams warn him and he's able to turn the tables. A new Starman finds himself on "The Ropes" as he learns a lot about boxing, and a lot about himself training with Wildcat.
