About
Hi, I'm John, founder of Grab My Slabs and a lifelong comic book fanatic.
My collecting started in the late 1970s with a stack of X-Men and New Teen Titans, two titles that hooked me at exactly the right age. Decades later I'm opening up my personal vault to share a collection of raw and graded comics with other fans, collectors and investors.
I'm no longer an active buyer. What I am is someone who kept his collection carefully for a very long time, and is now listing it one issue at a time.
How I price
To keep pricing consistent I use CovrPrice market values for raw books, then list at 20% below that. There's plenty of debate about which pricing guide is right. This method feels balanced to me: it respects both sides, and it leaves room for a book to be worth more to you than you paid if you ever send it for grading.
For graded comics I follow GPAnalysis fair market value and stay close to the current market.
Nothing here is priced from what it might fetch on a good day.
About the grades
Raw books carry my own estimate, not a third-party grade. I've been looking at these books since the late 1970s and I don't overgrade them. But an estimate is an opinion, and grading is subjective, so treat the number as my honest read rather than a certificate. Anything I think is below that estimate is labelled.
Graded books are a different matter. Those carry a third-party grade and a certification number, and you can look them up yourself.
Most of these are the only copy
Most of what's here is a single physical copy. When it sells, it's gone, and the page stops offering it. Where I have more than one of an issue, the listing says how many.
